According to data published by Romanian National Authority for Energy Regulation (ANRE), after the first quarter in which the Romanian electricity market was fully liberalized, the number of consumers that moved to the competitive market increased by 175,000 and reached 1.19 million.
At the end of March, out of 1.19 million customers on the competitive market, about 1.06 million were supplied by large electricity suppliers: Enel, Electrica, CEZ and E.ON. ANRE data also shows that the average prices paid by consumers that switched to the competitive market are by some 13 % lower compared to prices fro consumers who are still supplied by the universal service suppliers on the regulated market.
