According to the state statistical office, net electricity production in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) amounted to 5,048 GWh in the first five months of 2017, of which 1,342 GWh (26.6 %) was produced in hydropower plants, while the remaining 3,706 GWh (73.4 %) was produced in thermal power plants.
During this period, BiH imported 955 GWh of electricity, while importing 1,657 GWh of this energy resource. Imported electricity was worth 58.3 million euros, which is almost twice as much as in the same period last year, and almost the same as in the whole 2016 (59 million euros).
