The Bulgarian Ministry of Energy announced that an agreement on the construction of radioactive waste repository for the country’s sole nuclear power plant Kozloduy has been signed. The project is worth 72 million euros and it is expected that the repository will be completed in 2021.
The agreement was signed with the consortium consisting of German company Nukem Technologies, owned by Russian AtomStroyExport, and four Belgian companies. The project will be funded through a grant from the Kozloduy International Decommissioning Support Fund (KIDSF), which is administered by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
