Bulgarian natural gas transmission system operator Bulgartransgaz has signed 1.2 million euros worth contract for the development of a feasibility study for the Balkan gas hub project with a consortium of a local EMF Consult and Swiss AF Consult.
The feasibility study aims to assess the commercial and technical viability of the project for construction of Balkan European gas distribution hub and define the business model for its implementation. The consortium must submit an interim report on its findings within 40 days, while the final report has to be completed within 110 days. The project is being co-funded under the EU’s Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), which will cover 50 % of the cost of the feasibility study.
