According to sources, French RTE has set up a consortium with Canadian energy company Hydro-Quebec for the acquisition of 24 % stake in Greek electricity transmission system operator ADMIE. The deadline for the submission of binding offers is 12 October.
Hydro-Quebec is Canada’s largest electricity producer and the world’s largest hydropower producer. The company owns 61 hydropower plants and one nuclear power plants and has over 19,800 employees. Its total installed capacity stands at 36,912 MW, 99 % of which is in electricity produced from renewable energy sources. The company serves more than 4 million customers in Canada.
