CNNC awaiting Parliament’s decision on lifting NPP Belene moratorium – Bulgaria, 5 June 2018

Bulgarian Ministry of Energy said in a statement after the meeting between Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova and representatives of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) that the Chinese company is waiting for the Bulgarian Parliament to lift the moratorium on the construction of Bulgaria’s second nuclear power plant Belene.
CNNC representatives again confirmed the company’s intentions to become a potential strategic investor in NPP Belene project, adding that they are familiar with the Government’s decision not to provide any state guarantees nor to conclude any long-terms power purchase agreements.
