Romanian Minister of Energy Florian-Toma Petcu said that Romania’s coal stocks are insufficient and can last only for four days, which is not enough to solve problems of the cold wave that hit the country.
Minister Petcu said that in order to establish what led to current lack of coal stocks, a control body was ordered to check how the two companies and former Energy Ministry prepared for the winter period. He added that the new Ministry will develop very clear procedures and established rules that will enable normal functioning of the country’s energy system during situations such as this, when both electricity and natural gas historic high consumptions were recorded.
