The local company “Makedonski Energetski Resursi” announced that it has started the construction of Stip-Negotino gas pipeline. This pipeline is a part of national gas network, connecting to the import link to Bulgaria, and will allow the process of switching to gas for heating to start.
Besides domestic consumption, the section between Stip and Negotino will also allow further industrial development, especially with the long planned conversion of oil-fueled power plant in Negotino to natural gas. Currently, the plant is rarely used for electricity production because it is costly and inefficient.
