Romanian Ministry of Economy announced that Romanian natural gas transmission system operator Transgaz and its Moldovan counterpart Vestmoldtransgaz have signed a cooperation agreement in the natural gas interconnection field.
The signed document sets out the general principles of cooperation between the two companies, especially in the further development of the natural gas system interconnection project between Romania and Moldova. Last year, the two countries have signed the agreement which envisages the extension of Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline to Chisinau in Moldova and Onesti in Romania. The 100 km extension to Chisinau will cost between 110 and 150 million euros, depending on the transport capacity and it could be completed in three years. European Union has already allocated 10 million euros for this project.
