The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has announced that it will provide a 135 million dollars loan that will help Turkey to modernize and enhance electricity distribution in the northwestern part of the country.
Within its program of promoting the liberalization of the electricity market, including the unbundling and the privatization of major companies in the distribution sector, the EBRD will finance electricity companies operating in northwestern Turkey, said the statement from the bank. It will extend a 135 million dollars loan to the Trakya Electricity Distribution Company (TREDAS), the Trakya Electricity Retail Company (TREPAS) and to their parent company IC Ictas Elektrik (ICEL).
