According to the data published by the National Institute for Statistics (INS), electricity consumption in Romania in the first nine months of 2016 amounted to 40.87 TWh, which is 4 % more compared to the same period in 2015.
The data show that industrial electricity consumption increased by 5.1 % to 31.52 TWh. On the other hand, households electricity consumption amounted to 8.93 TWh, which is a 0.7 % increase. Public lighting consumption decreased by 1.6 %, amounting to some 424 GWh.
