Romanian Minister of Energy Toma Petcu said that since the beginning of 2017 Romanian electricity exports have increased by almost 60 % compared to the same period last year.
Minister Petcu stressed that Romania remains a net exporter of electricity, since it is clear that the country produces more electricity than it consumes. According to him, this is because Romania has the possibility to produce energy from a quite developed energy mix. He confirmed that in this period there were some issues with the weather, and due to severe drought water reserves in accumulations were much lower, thus hydro sector produced less electricity, but the country had fuel reserves to compensate lower hydro production.
