According to the data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (Turkstat), the country’s electricity imports in the first half of 2016 dropped by 46 % compared to the same period last year.
Turkey imported about 1.9 billion kWh of electricity in the first six months of the year, compared to about 3.5 billion kWh in the first half of 2015. The cost of electricity imports in the first half of 2016 amounted to 89 million dollars, which is 61 % less compared to 231 million dollars paid in the same period in 2015.
