According to Kosovo Agency of Statistics (ASK), gross electricity production in Kosovo reached 1,744.7 GWh in the second quarter of 2016, which is 14 % more than in the same period last year.
The majority of electricity was produced by thermal power plants – 1,657.8 GWh or 95 %, while hydropower plants generated 86.9 GWh of electricity during the said period. Electricity imports amounted to 24.9 GWh in the second quarter of the year, which is significantly less than 98.8 GWh imported in the second quarter of 2015. During the same time, 492.3 GWh of electricity was exported, compared to 209.7 GWh a year before.
