Enel Green Power acquired two solar projects from Mytilineos Group – Romania, 06 September 2021

Enel Green Power Romania, part of the Italian Enel Group, has signed two share purchase agreements with the Greek Mytilineos Group for the acquisition of two solar power plant projects located in Giurgiu and Teleorman counties, with combined installed capacity of 90 MW.

The first project will have an installed capacity of 63 MW and will be built in Calugareni, Giurgiu county. Construction of the plant is scheduled to start by the end of this year. The second project will be built in the Mosteni in Teleorman county, with the capacity of 26 MW, while the construction is expected to start at the beginning of 2022. The two plants are expected to start commercial operations by the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023, respectively.

General Manager of Enel Green Power Romania Florin Gheorghiu said that Romania has a great opportunity to leverage on its untapped potential in renewable resources, especially now, with the new European targets for the energy transition. The company follows a solid investment plan in the country that reaffirms our commitment to making the planet sustainable.

The two solar power plants built in partnership with the Mytilineos Group are estimated to generate some 130 GWh of electricity per year, preventing 141.740 tons of CO2 emissions per year. With this acquisition, Enel Green Power Romania will significantly increase its green portfolio, which currently stands at 36 MW.
