According to the data from the Statistical Office of Republic of Slovenia, domestic energy resources covered 54 % of domestic energy needs, while petroleum products and natural gas were completely imported.
Total amount of domestic energy sources in Slovenia in 2016 was 3.6 million tons of oil equivalent, which is by 6% more than in 2015. The amount of hydro energy increased the most (by 18%), followed by coal and renewable energy sources (by 9% and 4%, respectively). In 2016, Slovenia met 54% of domestic energy demand with domestic energy resources. The rest of the energy was supplied from imports, i.e. the entire quantities of petroleum products and natural gas were imported.
