Serbian state-owned power utility EPS announced that it plans to use the proceeds of a loan obtained from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to launch four public tenders regarding small hydropower plants (SHPP), three of which should be launched by the end of this year. Estimated value of all four tenders is about 37 million euros.
The tenders include procurement of works and services for the reconstruction of 15 small hydropower plants and the construction of two new such facilities at the existing water management dams. Some of the contracts have already been awarded, namely the contract for the procurement of equipment for eight SHPPs in western Serbia, while the same tender for the remaining seven SHPPs located in eastern Serbia is currently in the offers evaluation stage.
