The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) more than doubled electricity imports in the first quarter of 2016, compared to the same period last year. Due to unfavorable weather conditions at the beginning of the year, production at hydropower plants decreased and FBiH was forced to increase electricity imports.
According to the data from the Federal Office of Statistics, FBiH imported 392 GWh of electricity in the first three months of 2016, compared to the same period in 2015 when imports amounted to 187 GWh.
