The new CAT mechanism model compensating electricity generation flexibility, is expected to be launched in Greece in September, but it will be valid for less than a year, until the implementation of the target model, which aims for creating a single European market, is set to start in first half of 2019.
Independent electricity producers are eagerly awaiting the launch CAT flexibility mechanism as its previous version expired in April 2017, which prompted financial issues at production units. The launch of the new mechanism was initially planned for July, but was later slated for September.
