According to the amendments to the law on electricity and natural gas, gas producers in Romania will be obliged to conclude gas sale contracts only on Romanian centralized gas markets between 1 December 2016 and 31 December 2017.
The only exception from this new regulation is for natural gas used to produce thermal energy for households consumption. The amendments maintain the current contracting system for heating gas until 31 March 2017. The aim is not to disrupt the supply and prevent interruption of district heating services during the winter season.
