Deputy CEO of Russian gas company Gazprom Alexander Medvedev said that the company has set an absolute record for natural gas exports to Europe in 2017 for the entire history of both Soviet and Russian gas industry.
Gazprom’s gas exports to Europe, including Turkey, amounted to 194.4 billion cubic meters in 2017 and had 34.7 % market share. Gazprom’s share on the European market is in constant rise in the past five years, since in 2012 its market share stood at 26 %. Medvedev explained that increase in gas deliveries from Russia is related to increased gas consumption in Europe, but Gazprom’s market share grows faster than the market demand.
