Greek Country Manager of TAP AG, the company in charge of Trans-Adriatic gas pipeline project, Rikard Scoufias said that the construction of Greek section of TAP will start in 2016 and it will be completed in 2020.
Speaking at the conference, Scoufias stressed that TAP project stands as yet another sign of the confidence in Greek economy, adding that the project will increase Greek geostrategic significance on the European energy map.
He reminded that first deliveries of steel pipes and bends, amounting to some 1,500 pieces, arrived to Thessaloniki and Kavala last month. Each pipe is 80 meters long and weights about 10 tons. A total of 32,000 such pipes will be installed in the Greek section of the pipeline, while entire TAP project will require over 53,000 pipes.
