According to the BP Statistical Review for World Energy, Romanian hydropower consumption dropped by 11.9 % in 2015 to some 3.7 million tons of oil equivalent and represented about 0.4 % of the worldwide consumption.
In the last ten years, Romania recorded the highest hydropower consumption in 2005 and 2010, 4.6 and 4.5 million tons of oil equivalent respectively.
