According to the data, provided by Greek electricity market operator LAGIE, about 136,000 of the country’s seven million electricity consumers are supplied by independent energy companies, which is just about 2 %.
However, regarding the volume of supplied electricity, independent suppliers hold 12.01 % market share, as these companies generally supply larger-scale consumers on medium and high-voltage. For example, over 30 % of Greek medium-voltage consumers are supplied by independent companies rather than state controlled Public Power Corporation (PPC).
