Heating and hot water prices have increased in Bulgaria as of 8 April, after the increase in natural gas prices by almost 30 % from 1 April. The new prices were previously approved by the Bulgarian Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (KEVR).
However, new prices differ from city to city, due to various characteristics of individual district heating systems, such as how much gas they consume. The highest increase is recorded in the city of Pleven – 37.4 %, where the price of heating and hot water rose from 23.9 euros/MW to 32.9 euros/MW, excluding VAT. The Bulgarian capital Sofia follows with an increase of 22.7 %, where district heating services now cost 40.5 euros/MW.
