RB Kolubara, a subsidiary of the Serbian state-owned power utility EPS, which operates the Kolubara coalmines, announced that the company has produced slightly over 16 million tons of lignite in the seven months of 2016, which is about 2 % more than planned.
The largest amount of coal in 2016 was excavated at Tamnava West Field open pit mine with about 7 million tons of coal in the first seven months of the year, followed by Field D open pit mine with 6.8 million tons produced during the same period. Good production results were also achieved on monthly level. During July 2016, about 2.4 million tons of lignite was excavated, which is in accordance with the annual production plan.
