According to Montenegrin media, the laying of a part of the submarine DC cable that will connect Montenegro and Italy will be officially launched on 4 October in the northern zone of cape Ponta. When this project is finished, Montenegro will be in the center of energy flows between the Balkans and western Europe.
The onshore part of the cable on the Montenegrin side is about six kilometers long, and it will be followed by an underwater cable laying in the Montenegrin territorial waters. The total length of the submarine cable between Montenegro and Italy is 440 kilometers and about 136 kilometers of cable from the Italian side has already been laid.
