General Director of the Romanian National Mineral Resources Agency (ANRM) Sorin Gal said that several hydrocarbons exploration projects worth over 100 million dollars in Romania are currently blocked due to legal framework.
Gal stressed that current Petroleum Law has to be amended as soon as possible since many energy companies currently have problems performing exploration works on private land. In some cases, owners have completely blocked any exploration activities on their land. Gal explained that Romanian law is not very clear on this matter and the Agency is trying to find some solution in which it could intervene in the process without breaching the property rights.
