According to the data from the Romanian Energy strategy for the period between 2016 and 2030 presented by Project Coordinator Radu Dudau, natural gas may become the main fuel for the domestic energy production in 2030 with a share of 45 %, followed by nuclear energy with the share of 12 %.
The basic scenario included in the Energy Strategy envisages that in 2030 energy production based on natural gas will have the share of 45 % in the country’s energy mix, followed by nuclear energy (12 %), solid fuel (mainly coal), oil and hydropower each with 7 % share, wind and biomass (6 % each) and finally solar power with 2 % share.
