DEDA, a subsidiary of Greek Public Gas Corporation (DEPA), established on 1 January 2017 due to a legal obligation to split distribution activities from the rest of DEPA’s activities, has begun operating.
The new company is tasked with developing, expanding and activating natural gas networks in regions not covered by the parent company, whose three existing gas distribution subsidiaries covers the wider Athens area, Thessaloniki and Thessaly. DEDA plans to expand its gas network to 18 cities with more than 100,000 households and 11,000 enterprises. Its growth plan envisages the construction of more than 1,000 kilometers of medium and low pressure lines. Natural gas consumption in areas taken over by DEDA is estimated at around 700 million cubic meters annually.
