Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev announced that oil was found at Khan Asparuh offshore block in the Bulgarian part of the Black Sea during exploration drillings earlier this year. However, he did not elaborate the statement and did not disclose any details regarding the amount of oil found.
Earlier this month there were some speculations that the first drillings at Khan Asparuh block have shown no evidence of hydrocarbons deposits. Deputy PM Donchev denied such claims stating that the fact that the companies are still drilling in the Bulgarian Black Sea waters, despite huge expenditures, is proof that the situations is optimistic.
