CEO of Greek Public Power Corporation (PPC) Manolis Panagiotakis said that the company is looking to acquire the development rights for a power plant in Turkish northwestern province of Eskisehir, in cooperation with Chinese Shenhua as an investor.
Eskisehir province has the third largest lignite deposit in Turkey. Currently, the coal deposits and the plan for the construction of 1,080 MW thermal power plant are owned by the Electricity Generation Company (EUAS) and are a part of an ongoing privatization process, as the tender is open until 27 January 2018. The winning bidder will be able to sell electricity generated at the location to the national grid at a minimum price of 5-6 dollars/KWh.
