During their meeting in Sofia, Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev and the EU Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager discussed energy liberalization and diversification of gas supplies.
President Plevneliev stressed that these topics are a priority for Bulgaria, adding that the country is working extensively in order to improve energy connectivity with its neighbors in the Southeastern Europe and is grateful for the support of the European Commission (EC) on that matter. He reminded that gas interconnection between Bulgaria and Greece, which construction should start in October, is of strategic importance not only for these two countries, but for the entire region.
