During the presentation of the results of 28th fuel cycle of nuclear power plant Krsko, the management of the plant announced that the regular annual overhaul will start on 1 October. The overhaul will last for one month and it will cost 20 million euros.
The 28th fuel cycle of NPP Krsko, which started on 17 May 2015, went flawlessly and all measurements have shown that the operation of the NPP did not have any detrimental effect on the environment, said the plant’s CEO Stane Rozman. During the regular overhaul, along with nuclear fuel replacement and regular maintenance, 27 major technological upgrades will be carried out as well. Rozman said that the program for the upgrade of security is carried out in three phases. Currently, the plant is the second phase, which should be completed by the end of 2018, and includes the construction of auxiliary control room, an additional independent system for pressure reduction of the reactor cooling system in case of an accident, an alternative cooling pool for spent fuel and other.
