Vice-President for Economic Issues at State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), Suleyman Gasimov said that the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Romania gas interconnector project (AGRI) is not dead, but its implementation takes time and it requires quite large investments.
Gasimov explained that the construction of the terminal in Georgia is needed, as well as the construction of another one in Romania. SOCAR is currently involved in other two major gas pipeline projects – Trans-Anatolian pipeline (TANAP) and Trans-Adriatic pipeline (TAP), which will be used to transport natural gas from Caspian region to Europe. However, Gasimov stressed that along with these two projects, AGRI project could be implemented as well, but only if all involved parties support its implementation.
