According to Greek media, three of four bidders in the first non-binding round for the sale of 24 % stake in Greek electricity transmission system operator ADMIE are expected to qualify for the second round of this international tender.
Italian Terna, RTE, a subsidiary of French EDF, and Chinese State Grid of China Corporation (SGCC) are expected to be selected by the Board of Public Power Corporation (PPC), following the assessment of their technical and financial credentials. The fourth bidder, China Southern Power Grid was rejected since it does not hold a stake in any European electricity transmission operator. According to the rules of the tender, all bidders must be certified European operators or associated with a European operator. SGCC holds a 25 % stake in Portuguese energy company REN, acquired in 2012.
