According to the data published by the National Institute for Statistics (INS), total imports of energy products increased by 15.7 % in 2016 compared to the previous year, mostly due to higher natural gas imports (increased by 1,025 thousand tons of oil equivalent) and crude oil imports, which rose by 872 thousand tons of oil equivalent.
On the other hand, imports of petroleum products and coke decreased in 2016 compared to 2015, by 106,000 tons and 19,000 tons of oil equivalent respectively.
