On 20 September, new thermal power plant Stanari, an investment worth 550 million euros, has been officially put into operation. The opening ceremony was attended by the President of the Republic of Srpska (RS) Milorad Dodik, President of EFT Group Vuk Hamovic, President of Chinese company Dongfang Electric Corporation, British and Chinese Ambassadors to Bosnia and Herzegovina and other officials.
TPP Stanari has power output of 300 MW and it will produce 2 TWh of electricity per year by consuming some 2.3 million tons of coal per year. The worth of the project totaled to some 550 million euros and the most of the funds for the project were provided by China Development Bank. The construction of the plant started in May 2013 and was performed by Chinese Dongfang Electric Corporation.
