The local company Tekno Ray Solar with its Italian partner Enerray has put into operation the largest solar power plant in Turkey in Konya province, with the total installed capacity of 22.5 MW.
According to the company, the solar power plant, which has initial power output of 18.5 MW, will produce enough electricity to cover the needs of some 20,000 households. CEO of Tekno Ray Solar Altay Coskunoglu said that he believes that solar energy will grow rapidly in Turkey in the future, and added that importation level in solar energy is about 50 %, which is much lower than in case of coal or natural gas.
