Russian Minister of Energy Alexander Novak said in an interview that the implementation of the project for the construction of TurkStream gas pipeline is becoming more attractive for both Russia and Turkey due to the rising cost of gas transit through Ukraine.
Minister Novak explained that if gas transit costs through Ukraine increase, which is already announced by the Ukrainian authorities, it would affect the cost of transportation and the final price of gas for consumers in Turkey. Therefore, Turkey will be very interested in receiving gas directly via new pipeline, rather than paying higher prices for transport through Ukraine.
