The statement from the Bulgarian sole nuclear power plant Kozloduy said that unit 5 has been reconnected to the grid on Monday following inspection and authorization issued by the Nuclear Regulatory Agency, after the completion of its planned annual maintenance which started on 9 April.
During the downtime, a number of operations were carried out as well according to plans to extend the operational life of the unit and increase the heat output of the reactor, including inspection of the steam turbines, steam separator superheaters, vessels and pipelines, as well as the modernization of the separation system for two steam generators. Fresh nuclear fuel was also loaded into the reactor during the maintenance.
