Director of Srbijagas Dusan Bajatovic said that the decision on the expansion of Banatski Dvor underground gas storage will be made in the last quarter of this year. He added that technical and economic studies are being carried out at the moment and the the expansion itself could start as early as 2017.
Previously, Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic announced that Serbia plans to expand its gas storage capacity with the goal to reach reserves of about 2 billion cubic meters of gas. He added that current annual natural gas consumption in Serbia is up to 2 billion cubic meters, but in 10 years time, when industrial production is expected to increase, the consumption will probably reach 3.5 billion cubic meters of gas.
